Since most of EstBAN’s activities take place in Tallinn, we’ve felt that this is putting the investors residing outside the capital in a disadvantage. Hence we decided to spread some of our activities across Estonia.
After all, we’re the Estonian not Tallinn Business Angels Network.
On September 28 we were fortunate to kick-off EstBAN Tartu Investor Club with our associate partner Sparkup Tartu Teaduspark. Andrus Kurvits from Sparkup Tartu Teaduspark made an intro with our board member Jan Lätt and EstBAN’s president Lauri Antalainen (born and bred in Tartu) gave a short intro on his portfolio and best examples. We were incredibly happy to see so many interested people join us and rejoiced to have an opportunity to be closer to all the investing and startup minded people also in southern Estonia.
EstBAN Tartu Investor Club will operate in Tartu (as it says in the name) and focuses on supporting and promoting entrepreneurs, investors and the startup community.
Main activities
The main activities of the club will be:
- angel investment trainings,
- creation of a strong investor network in Tartu,
- assembling angel syndicates and
- local demo evenings.
Purposeful action
The goal of the club is to contribute to entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development in the region, above all by creating a strongly intertwined investor network in Tartu. The club creates an active network between entrepreneurs, investors and the startup community in Tartu who share an interest in angel investing. The club’s events allow to make new contacts, meet experienced angel investors and share deal flows and experiences. The aim is to encourage social network development and cooperation, which can lead to new investment opportunities.
The long term goal is to organise regular demo evenings, pitch events where startups can present their business ideas to investors and leave no potential collaboration partner and good investment opportunity unseen.
The activities will be planned with all the ecosystem players in South Estonia – Sparkup Tartu Teaduspark, sTARTUp Day, Tartu Biotechnology Park and others. Thank you for all the supporters and until next events!
