EstBAN Business Angel Camp 2021, which took place on Sept 15-16 brought together more than 100 angel investors, venture capitalists and startup ecosystem representatives to Riga.
It was a unique opportunity for angel investors from the Baltics and Nordics to exchange ideas on best practices, and also to forge new connections and pursue business opportunities. Business Angel Camp was a great collaboration and could not have been a success without our partners – Httpool, Lithuanian Business Angel Network, Latvian Business Angels Network and no doubt, our members!
Business Angel Camp topics were covered by Andris K. Berzins with Change Ventures introduced Baltic Startup Funding Report and hosted the Baltic Angel panel discussion with Rita Sakus, Lev Dolgachov and Voldemars Bredikis. The main takeaways were that pre-seed investments are recovering and continue to grow fast, while seed and Series A are staying strong. Investors are taking more risk, backing less mature startups at the seed stage. Also, there are more important metrics and factors than revenues determining investment decisions in the region.
Martins Zemitis shared light on Green Deal and sustainable investment talk, illustrated how more and more cash is going into less carbon and a lot of in-house funds are established to support big corporate transitions. European Green Deal mobilises research, fosters innovation and finance the transition but an investment gap still exists and therefore a greater consideration of investors’ sustainable preferences is needed.
Maris Naglis shared consumer behavior insights, explaining where social commerce is heading, what are the actions behind privacy and legislation technology.
Ivo Remmelg moderated a panel with the most recent EstBAN syndicate and hockey stick startup Jeff App’s founder Toms Niparts, and Emmet King from J12 Ventures and went through the process of fundraising in more depth.
Reima Linnanvirta closed the event with the unbelievable exit story of Whiteboard.fi that was executed in 104 days. Whiteboard.fi, an online whiteboard tool for teachers and classrooms with over 6 million monthly users all over the world, was swiftly acquired by Kahoot!
We are so proud to have brought together such an amazing group of investors to support new enterprises and captivate early stage investing insights from all Baltic countries. Also, we’re already starting the preparations for next year’s Angel Camp. Keep an eye out, it’s going to be epic!
Event was supported by Startup Estonia, Kredex, Central Baltic programme.
